The Rarity of True Faith in Kamma

"In conventional truth (sammuti-sacca), don't we need to believe in the Right View of ownership of kamma (Kammassakatā Sammādiṭṭhi), which includes both unwholesome and wholesome kamma?

If one commits unwholesome acts from killing to drinking alcohol, from killing to wrong views - is this wholesome or unwholesome? The results of unwholesome kamma after death lead to hell realms, animal realm, hungry ghost realm, and demon realm. Is this happiness or suffering? Isn't this frightening?

If one abstains from killing through to abstaining from intoxicants, from killing through to wrong views - is this unwholesome or wholesome? Don't the results of wholesome kamma lead to human realm and six heavenly realms? Is this suffering or happiness? Isn't this worth believing in? #We_must_believe_in_kamma.

Didn't Mogok Sayadaw teach five types of Right View in his recordings?
- Right View of ownership of kamma
- Right View of jhāna
- Right View of insight
- Right View of the Path
- Right View of Fruition

We need to believe in kamma. #Very_few_people_truly_believe.

According to Namya Sayadaw's book, among 100 laypeople, only about 10 maintain proper moral conduct. How few! Among monks too, only 30 out of 100 maintain proper conduct. Even #among_monks this is the case! That means 70 don't maintain it properly. And among laypeople, only 10 out of 100. Isn't the number of people who believe in kamma very small? Shouldn't we examine this? Remember, contemplation is practice.

During the Buddha's time, didn't Ānanda ask about the proportion of wholesome and unwholesome deeds among humans, devas, and brahmas? The Buddha replied that excluding the noble ones among humans, devas, and brahmas, the wholesome deeds of the remaining worldlings are only as much as dust on a fingernail.

How little is that? It's not even worth a quarter-kyat weight. Isn't this worth contemplating? #Unwholesome_deeds_are_as_vast_as_the_earth itself. Shouldn't we examine ourselves?"
"Have you heard what Mogok Sayadaw taught in his recordings - that out of 100,000 deaths, only one being is reborn as a human? #Out_of_100000_deaths_only_one_becomes_human. This is worth contemplating. When we compare the numbers of humans and animals, which is more numerous? The animals are uncountable.

In just one household compound, in the soil alone:
- There are 4-5 types of black ants
- 2-3 types of red ants
- 2-3 types of brown ants
- Let's say there are about 10 humans in that house

When you calculate like this, how few humans there are! #Animals_are_uncountable. Consider:
- Rats living in houses
- Insects
- Cockroaches
- Centipedes
- Flying creatures in the air
- Large visible animals like cattle and buffalo on land
- And in water, there are tens of billions of beings - there are so many aquatic creatures!

When you calculate all this, how few humans there are in comparison! Are there more animals? Is this abundance of animals due to wholesome or unwholesome kamma? Isn't this worth contemplating..."
