CH26: Guided Notes & Student Handouts (Fill-ins + Diagram Placeholder)

CH26: Guided Notes & Student Handouts (Fill-ins + Diagram Placeholder)

At-a-glance: Teacher Pack • Printable pages aligned to SN 12.1–12.2

A. Definition & place in DO

  • Guided notes are printable handouts with fill-ins, diagram slots, and QR cues that scaffold attention to the DO map while reducing cognitive load.

  • Built around the chapter template (Definition & place • Mechanism • Practice • Cross-links) and keyed to SN 12.1–12.2 enumerations.

  • Each page keeps words + picture close, signals C2 (vedanā→taṇhā), and reserves a diagram placeholder with QR to slides.

  • All QRs include alt text and follow size/quiet-zone rules for reliable scanning.

B. Mechanism (how to deploy)

  • Before class: print double-sided; test the four QRs (Audio/Video/Slides/Prompt).

  • During class: learners complete fill-ins as the teacher reveals each figure; Scan & Reflect boxes trigger a 60–90 sec micro-drill.

  • After class: the same sheet functions as a study card (20 modes, links placement, C2 cue).

C. Practice (ready-to-print templates)

1) Universal Front Sheet (fill-ins)

Header:

Title: ______________________ (EN) • Pāli: ______________________
At-a-glance tag: ______________________

Definition & Place in DO (SN 12.1 / 12.2):

  • “When this is, that is … with the arising of this, that arises.” This formula is called paṭicca-samuppāda.

  • The twelve links are: 123456789101112.

  • This chapter’s link sits in (circle one): Past Cause / Present Effect / Present Cause / Future Effect.

  • Round (vaṭṭa): Kilesa / Kamma / Vipāka (circle one).

Mechanism (how this link conditions the next):

  • _______________ → _______________ (write the immediate downstream link).

  • Connection beacon (if any): C1 / C2 / C3 (circle and label: __________________).

Scan & Reflect (QR-PRM):

  • After scanning, write one sentence: “Today I will practice: Feel → Name → Loosen at the __________ door.”

Diagram Placeholder (leave a 9×12 cm blank box)

[QR-PPT] “Slide set for today’s figure.”
Alt text: QR to slides: diagram for __________.

2) Present Flow Pack (Ch13–16) — student mini-set

Page A — Doors & Contact (Saḷāyatana → Phassa)

  • Six internal bases: cakkhu, sota, ghāna, jivhā, kāya, ________.

  • Six external: rūpā, saddā, gandhā, rasā, phoṭṭhabbā, ________.

  • Triangle: base + object + matching consciousness = ________.

  • Scan & Reflect (QR-PRM): run Door→Contact→Tone for one live stimulus and jot the tone word here: pleasant / painful / neutral.

Page B — Feeling & Lean (Vedanā → Taṇhā)

  • Vedanā is result (vipāka): pleasant / painful / neither.

  • Taṇhā (sixfold) is the lean toward: forms / sounds / odors / tastes / tangibles / ideas.

  • C2: write the arrow: Vedanā → ________.

  • Body check during cooling: relax jaw, chest, hands.

  • Exit line: “I met vedanā as a (result / command).” (circle one)

3) Four Periods & Rounds One-Pager (Ch02–03 consolidation)

  • Four periods: Past Cause | Present Effect | Present Cause | Future Effect.
    Place each link:

    • Past Cause: 1. ________ 2. ________

    • Present Effect: 3. ________ 4. ________ 5. ________ 6. ________ 7. ________

    • Present Cause: 8. ________ 9. ________ 10. ________

    • Future Effect: 11. ________ 12. ________ (+ dukkha suite)

  • Rounds overlay: color the cells Kilesa / Kamma / Vipāka.

4) Twenty Modes Matrix (Ch07)

Create a 4-column table with M1–M20 (17 segmental items + C1/C2/C3).

  • Learners fill each cell with term + door cue (e.g., “M7 Vedanā — tone word only”).

  • Footer box: “My pause will be at M__ this week.”

5) Assessment Backsheet (quick checks)

  • Oral roll-call (teacher initials): ____ / 12 links in ≤30s.

  • Card sort: placed in correct period (Y/N).

  • Mini-practicum: labeled Door→Contact→Tone + performed Loosen (Y/N).

D. Cross-links

  • Ch24 (5E lesson shell; exit tickets).

  • Ch07 (Twenty Modes matrix to print).

  • Ch13–16 (Present-flow pack).

  • Ch21–22 (aggregates at the door; “no being” cue).
